Jojo Moyes nasceu em 1969 e cresceu em Londres. Estudou jornalismo e foi correspondente do jornal The Independent até 2002, quando publicou o seu primeiro romance, Retrato de Família, e resolveu dedicar-se à escrita a tempo inteiro. 

Publicou depois Foreign Fruit (2003), The Peacock Emporium (2004), The Ship of Brides (2005), Silver Bay – A Baía do Desejo (2007), Um Violino na Noite (2008), The Horse Dancer (2009) e The Last Letter from your Lover (2010), título que obteve o prémio Romantic Novel of the Year. Com Foreign Fruit obteve o prémio Romantic Novel of the Year, para o qual esteve também nomeada por The Ship of Brides e por Silver Bay – A Baía do Desejo.
